Car Alarms: 2000 celica alarm, alarmtek, toyota celica

Question
QUESTION: I just bought a 2000 toyota celica.  I belive the alarm is a factory alarm. but after I arm it the alarm speraticlly gives a warning beep.  It gets kinda anoying at 3 am.  I hope you can help.  All of the other electrical components work fine.

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY or, ANTI-THEFT" light
in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: the horn honks and head lights flash but no security on gauge panel present.  led flashes. The previous owner states the car was bought with the alarm from the dealer.  The car has a securikey (key remote in one) FCC ELVAT6B.  the car stereo was also stolen and replaced some months back.

Answer
Trouble is the factory alarm is tied into the door lock system
in this vehicle. They are one in the same. You will
now need to contact Toyota to discus why the
factory alarm is intermitent. It's possible it was
damaged somehow when the radio was pulled,
but you will need Toyota to read the codes and
confirm that.

Wish I had something easy to help, but
my expertise is in the after market.
This one falls under the Toyota service dept.s
pervue.

Let me know what they discover.

Good luck.
