Car Alarms: 1995 mazda mx6 LS alarm, 1995 mazda mx6, 95 mazda mx6

Question
QUESTION: My wife's 95 mazda mx6 ls apparently has an alarm. After not going off for 5 months it suddenly won't stop going off every hour or 2. How do I disable it/turn it off. I saw the answer about grounding it, I don't really want to remove the alarm function, just be able to turn it off since it's acting up.
Also, can my local locksmith (that supplies key-fobs) figure out which alarm fob-thingy i'd need, or do i need mazda for that?

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Definitely stock (sorry, i would have described it but i asked this at 3 AM after it went off the second time after midnight).
Horn honks, lights flash, didn't look for the security light in the dash.
"Going off" refers to it, for no apparent reason, starting to honk & flash at random intervals. Noone's ever near the car. I figure my wife somehow accidentally turned it on for the first time and that it must be set to fairly sensitive (we were having high winds yesterday). If it was ever on before we'd have known, we constantly have other alarms being set off by cars without exhaust or loud radios.
Not looking to permanently disconnect it, obviously there's some way to turn it off and on when you want to or it would have been a problem before now.

Answer
You'll need to set off the alarm for a few seconds.
Then, look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

But if it does work, I'd keep it this way, and
replace the alarm asap with one you know and
understand how it operates for the best overall
experience.

Let me know if it works for yours.
