Car Alarms: 95 civic with rattler - want to disable, remote key fobs, rattler alarm

Hi,
My daugher has a 95 Honda Civic with a Rattler alarm system with remote key fobs. She would like to disable the alarm portion.  I found some info on here about the valet button and will look for it.  Will that keep it in valet mode until the button is pressed again?
Is there a way to adjust sensitivity of system?  Sometimes it will go off when sitting out in the hot sun.  Or possibly just put in a switch to cut out alarm horn?
