Car Alarms: Acura immoblizer problem, 2004 acura mdx, acura mdx

Question
We just purchased a 2004 acura mdx and in the first week of ownership the cart would not start.  It made a clicking noise.  I called AAA and they jump started it just fine the next day.  Two days later my wife starts car up just fine and is getting ready to pull out and locks the door using the lock switch on her side.  The car shuts off, gas tank goes to empty and radio and all other electronics are not working.  I am guessing there is some problem either with key or with coding.  Used car dealer gave us only one key with what looked like a slightly beat up alarm.  Could it be that the alarm/key is not programmed properly?  Right now the car is sitting in a lot waiting for my next move.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer
It appears the immobilizer has kicked in and
is causing these issues. You will need to tow
or drive it to the nearest Acura/Honda dealer
for evaluation/reset.

Wish I had better news, but that is
what it sounds like. Not an uncommon issue.

Good luck.
