Car Alarms: 1998 Mustang Alarm, resident technicians, previous question

Bought the car new in '98.  The alarm has never worked properly. When I set it with the TRW remote 3165189, the alarm sounds on its own within 2 minutes. The dealer claimed the alarm was OK, but I've never been able to use remote locking without the alarm subsequently sounding. From your response to a previous question, it appears to be an after market installation. How do I fix it?

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.
