Car Alarms: Valet Remote Start 551T and Keyless Ignition, valet remote start, optonline net

Question
I'm picking up my new Nissan Rogue tomorrow & it's got Keyless Entry & Keyless ignition. I will be taking my Valet 551 Remote start timer out of the car I'm trading in to have it installed in the Nissan. This unit not only allows pre-programmed remote start times, but also has the valet function where I can take the key out of the ignition, keep the motor running AND lock the doors & arm my alarm. (For quick runs into the mart for cigarettes, etc.) I understand the idea of installing a transponder for vehicles that have smartkeys. What I don't understand is what will stop someone from driving off with it if the car believes the key is "on the premises" so to speak? In my current vehicle (no smartkey), if I don't stick the key in the ignition, turn it on AND tap the brake the car turns off, killing the ignition. Is it just tehnically not possible to have remote start with valet function operate the way its intended in a car that has keyless ignition, or is there a way to configure it so that it does what it's supposed to? I'm also a little nervous about the whole Intelligent Key thing and don't understand how the car is started with the mechanical key if the battery in fob dies.

I refer these folks to either my forum
