Car Alarms: adding a trip sensor to a factory alarm, amateur radio operator, chevy z71

Question
I have a 2005 Chevy Z71 4X4 pickup truck with a factory alarm that works correctly.  I have added a after market tool box in the bed to the truck and would like to add it to the factory alarm system.  I have some technical ability as a amateur radio operator.  Can I add a switch on the tool box and tie it into the factory wiring so that when the tool box is opened the alarm will trip just like opening a door.

Answer
No unfotunately this won't be compatible with the factory
system's door pin switches.

A simple alarm for the rear tool boxes is suggested
to make this project work in this particular vehicle.

Not expensive. Less the 50 bucks to do it right.

Have a good day.
