Car Alarms: 99 passat alarm, service diagnostics, fuse

Question
parked the car last night, locked with remote, and the alarm triggered after a
few seconds.  this happened repeatedly.  the car would lock itself after a
minute or so, with no alarm going off.

this morning, it seemed to accept being locked with the key without
triggering the alarm.  then i drove it.  now the alarm goes off no matter how
it is locked.

i tried pulling the fuse for the alarm (and all the interior lights, thanks vw),
but then the car won't start.

Answer
Troublesome. It does depend on the remote.
I also own the 99 20v T, and had the same issue.

Very sorry but you will need to suck it up,
and take it in to VDUB service for evaluation.

The factory alarm is very hard to deal with
outside of the the VDUB service diagnostics machines
so, that's the best advice I can
offer.

If it were after market that's another story.
But, not from the description offered.

Good luck.
