Car Alarms: Keyless lock add on, resident technicians, keyless entries

Question
This may be a bit unusual.  I am looking for some add on equipment to install to open my house front door by using my existing 2007 Honda Accord (our an additional 3rd party) key fob transmitter.  To do this I need to know how the after-market units work. I have both the Honda fob and one for my Merlin garage door lift motor.  My front door already has an electric strike-plate which is activated by pressing a "open door" button on an in-house monitor/console.  This send a 12v DC current to the coil in the strike-plate which releases the keeper for a short period, and allows the lock's tongue to pull through the "keeper" on the strike-plate. So basically I am looking for a receiver unit which will send its own 12v approx DC current to the strike plate (or at least to open a circuit from an separate 12v DC supply (I can supply that).  I am assuming that the auto keyless entries are basically - 1)fob/FM transmitter, 2) vehicle mounted FM receiver? and 3) switch or relay or whatever (activated by the receiver) to pass vehicles 12v DC battery sourced current. So I am hoping to adapt an after-market auto unit to my existing electric striker plate. Right? Wrong?  Could you please advise me on this. Thank you. Greg.

Answer
Please restate this question in my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this. Not certain I would answer this
to your satisfaction, and I'd like to see you get
the correct system for this project.

Good luck there.
