Car Alarms: Yaris Immobiliser, toyota yaris, model toyota

Question
Ive lost my remote access key for my 2005 model Toyota Yaris. I have called many local dealerships and the prices they have quoted for a replacement are outrageous so on the eve of forking it out, I decided to do some research (better late than spending $300-$400).
I found that on e-bay they sell a replacement for a quarter of the price that can be re-programmed, the only exception is that if the car is fitted with an immobiliser this must be taken to the dealerships. Is there anyway around this? Ive read about the two types of immobilisers in Toyotas where one can reprogramme the system themself. Is this true for the Yaris?
Also in your experience, do you think aftermarket accessories are reliable? Or am i better off paying the ridiculous amounts of money for genuine parts?

I apologise for the numerous questions.
Thank you for your time.

Answer
After market is in most cases better then genuine parts.
So that's my take on that one.

And on the other thing, get the XKO5 bypass module and
ground out the immobilizer for good. You will need
to take it to a decent installer to interface it,
but once done, no more 300.00 every time you have issues
with it.

IM05- Immobilizer bypass - Programmable Platform #05: Transponder Override Interface
Firmware: PKT2 2.00

is what you need to solve this.

Good luck.
