Car Alarms: 1993 Maxima alarms when trunk opened with key, silver dots, negative polarity

Question
Running a 1993 Nissan Maxima with factory alarm via keypad on doors.  I didn't know the alarm code since purchasing the car used eight years ago.  No problems using the keys to open doors or trunk (except sometimes the doors relocked quickly after unlocking in cold weather).  My daughter & her boyfriend borrowed the car, and had trouble unlocking/locking it.  They apparently played with keys & keypad for a few minutes until they figured it out.  AFTER this, now every time I have all the doors locked and I open the trunk using the keys, the alarm goes off.  Going to the door and unlocking it stops the alarm.  I went online and found how to reset the keypad code, and now am able to unlock the doors and open the trunk via the keypad - Hurrah!  BUT, the alarm still goes off each time I open the trunk using my keys, when the doors are locked.  Shouldn't I be able to open the trunk using the keys without the alarm going off?  Even when the doors are locked?  If so, can you tell me how to enable this?  Thanks for any advice.

Answer
ok, not a problem.

Get out some basic install tools or get
a friend or a good technician
in there to do this.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. Yours was reset.
Try key in the drivers door, turn left, then
right to diasrm and unlock. If no joy,
you can disable it for good by doing the
following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
lt.green/white with silver dots |-|
at the anti-theft module.
|- negative polarity|. The Anti-theft module is
located to left of steering column. It actually
says Theft Warning on the module.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the OEM alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

If you have already have an after market alarm
however:

(SIREN & FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS= AFTER MARKET
or is it:
CAR HORN & FLASHING HEADLIGHTS= OEM-FACTORY)

Then look for the over ride/valet button under
the dash area, probably to the left leg region,
drilled into the plastic kick panel.

Then it's: KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN BUTTON FIRMLY
UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS ONCE, AND THE PARKING LIGHTS
FLASH. THEN KEY OFF.

This is over ride, and the car should start.
The only thing that would work would be keyless
entry if it is installed. The alarm functions
have been suspended.

Let me know which applied to your issue.

Good luck.
