Car Alarms: 97 Camry Factory Alarm & Battery, key fob programming, dash area

Question
QUESTION: How can I turn off the Factory Alarm system (which engaged itself because of a dead battery) without having the keyless entry/valet remote?
- in other answers I see that the valet remote is recommended to turn off the alarm but I no longer have mine.  what is the alternative?  do i have to purchase a new one?  where would i find one?  any other way to turn off the factory alarm system?

ANSWER: You would need a new overide switch. Any good local
stereo/alarm shop will help you out.

Would run about 10 bucks.
Or, unplug the alarm from it's harnesses,
and start over.

QUESTION: Thanks but where is the original overide switch?  is there one?  if you can tell me where it is, i will try it first before i replace it.
also, the alarm does not have a harness as i understand it.  its built into the car so i don't understand how to unplug the alarm from it's harnesses.
please expand on your thoughts and i will attempt your solution.  thank you.

Answer
The problem here is that the "factory" alarm is also
part of the door lock system. That means there are 2 ways
this is designed to disarm.

1. using the factory key fob transmitter
to unlock/disarm.

2. using the key in the drivers door, turn left all the
way, then right to unlock/disarm.

If the latter suggestion does not work, then the next thing is
to tow it to the nearest dealership for new key fob
programming.

If it was after market, then there is normally an overide
switch that can be used.

(ie; look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE.

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and or, get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no alarm at all.)

So, that's the options available at this point.

I hope you can work it out to your benefit, and
it turns out to possibly be an after market system.

Good luck.
