Car Alarms: Car Alarm, valet mode, car alarms

Question
I have a '98 Toyota 4-runner with a factory alarm system.  I changed the battery out and now when the last connection is made, the car alarms starts going off.  We can get it to shut off by turning the key to the right and holding the red button down under the dash, but it goes off when the drivers side door is opened.  If there any way to reset the alarm?

Answer
No not factory, it's after market but if the valet keeps
reseting and disengaging each time, it needs to be
repaired/removed.

The procedure is:
turn on the ignition key,
press and hold in the button,
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no alarm at all.

Let me know how it goes.
