QuestionHello- Hopefully you can shed some light on my current situation. About a month ago I got an aftermarket alarm system put in (Prestige APS-510A) my 2005 Chevy Tahoe. One day my car would not start, would not turn at all. Battery was fine everything worked. It was towed to a mechanic who said from the codes and checking it out that there was a dead short, and that it was affecting the BCM. With it having the security system I was advised to take it to the install place (that did my system both audio and security). There they said it was a bad BCM - got that replaced. Drove it home- that night fine, next morning same thing would not start, same no turning over. Back to the place that installed everything- they said that they checked everything could not find anything wrong, checked fuses, replaced battery (for free) and it was running. Got the car back, it ran for a week and tonight once again is not starting. In the last week I have noticed that I have to be right up on the car to engage or disengage the system which was a small issue (compared to the not starting deal). I had it towed earlier to a place that got it to start by jumping the starter directly, if shut off though then thats it-out of business. I ended up driving it to the place for them to look at it in the morning. I just needed input regarding what this could be, it seems that both security (factory and aftermarket) are both installed, is this right? Any thoughts on why or what is happening? Let me know if you need any more information or if you have any suggestions at all.

AnswerOdd. Ok sounds like a bad PASSLOCK system.
But just guessing as I am a Japanese
car specialist, not GM.
On this one, the best thing here is
to go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project. I don't know enough
on this system to advise you properly.
