Car Alarms: 2003 Civic alarm chirps, valet mode, dash area

Question
QUESTION: The alarm was pre-installed when I purchased my Civic LX from the dealer. The alarm never had a problem since brand new. Today it suddenly begins to chirp after I use remote to lock it(I always use remote). Also, before when I lock the car, alarm chirps once and unlocking chirps twice. Today it just did the opposite. My car is a well maintained car with no mechanical problems now. Thank.

ANSWER: Odd, have it inspected. I can't see a reason for
the change if all is nominal.

Take it back to the installer.

QUESTION: Thanks for the answer, but before I go to the dealer this weekend, may I ask one more question. Right now, if I use key to lock the car(unlocking it still need remote), it won't chirp. Otherwise it chirps once in every 2 minutes interval. Have you seen anything like that?

Answer
It's after market, and sounds as if it's in
long tamper mode. Let's see if this will work,
try to reset it.

Look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

If no joy after that, then definately
take it into an after market alarm installer.
I don't think Honda will know what to do
with an after market system other then get
they're after sale, after market guy to inspect.

You can do that anywhere they do stereos and alarms.
