Car Alarms: flaky aftermarket alarm system, brain box, dash area

Question
QUESTION: I have a 95 Bonneville.  As a gift, my husband had an aftermarket alarm system with remote starter(don't know which brand) installed in it.  It now does not function.  All it does is drain the battery and cause problems with my neighbors.  How do I deactivate it permanently?

ANSWER: You'll need to set off the alarm for a few seconds.
Then, look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

Then take it to a technician asap to find
out why it's draining the battery.

Let me know if it works for yours.

QUESTION: Thank you for this answer, but I really want to disable it permanently, as if it weren't there at all.  Are there particular wires I can cut and or splice around to permanently deactivate it?

Answer
No, you can't get the desired effect if you arbitrarilly "cut wires".
You need to unplug the brain box if
unable to reset with the valet.

The brain box is up under the dash, usually
placed to the left of the steering column.

Sorry, no quick fixes on this.
