Car Alarms: 97 Nissan Maxima alarm issues, nissan maxima, car headlights

Question
Hi. Several developing problems with my alarm over a few months, progressively. First: alarm stopped setting immediately after pressing remote button as it used to, takes a long time to chirp at all and then set. When disarming, car headlights no longer flash. Interior lights don't go on and off either as they used to when arming and disarming. Dealer claimed it was the remote, wanted to sell me two new ones at $150 each, said it might or might not fix it. Then, in last few days: can't set alarm at all. Should chirp once to set, twice to disarm, now won't set at all, but keeps chirping twice and disarming itself every 3-4 minutes continuously. Door locks still work, but alarm is all screwy and backwards. I have it temporarily overridden with the valet switch, but don't know how to fix this. Do you know what the problems might be? This is a dealer-installed alarm (I think in addition to the factory alarm?? not sure). Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer me, very much appreciated!

Best,

Leslie

Answer
It's after market (chirps).
I say go to a local car alarm shop
and have it inspected, and or repaired/replaced.
Screw Nissan. They have little to no clue, but are more
the eager to take your money. Hate that!

Go to the local guy in town, and see what he finds.
Tell Nissan to take advantage of someone else!

Good luck.
