Car Alarms: car alarm problems, avital 4400, optonline net

Question
I have an avital 4400 on my 98 chevy z71. Lately my remote has only been working part of the time and sometimes the door locks will lock and unlock themselves. This has happened while I was driving and other times while my truck has been parked. I was wondering what is happening and if I could fix the problem or just uninstall it myself? Could it be my remote or is it a short in the wiring?
