Car Alarms: car alarm, remote transmitters, alarmtek

I just purchased a used car and it has a Prime Security brand, AMX 88 model alarm system insyalled with door locks, light flash, and ignition kill.  I need to find a remote since the car came without one.  Is this alarm a generic brand for Avatol (?) unknown spelling and what remote would I get to wotk w/ this system.
