Car Alarms: 97 Golf alarm, alarmtek, dash area

My 97 Golf alarm is malfunctioning. Can't start the car. Had new tires put on
two days ago. No problem when I left the tire place. Cabin light somehow left
on all night so battery must be low. Next morning alarm went off when I tried
to start car. Later in day, alarm went off when door was open. The horn
sounds for about 5-10 minutes. Did not notice if the lights came on. Road
service person could not find a kill switch, said battery would not take a
charge with the alarm activated. I would like to just disable the alarm so I can
just drive my car.

Please be more specific.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
