Car Alarms: 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse car alarm, eclipse spyder, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I've recently purchased a used Eclipse Spyder which didn't come with a keyless remote. After reading your other answers, I think I may have accidently set the alarm by turning the key several times because a green "Security" light came on the dashboard but only for a few seconds then went out.  The alarm (horn) sounded every time I opened the door until I unhooked the battery.  That seemed to reset it but I'm still not sure if it's been deactivated and, not knowing how I set it, don't want to accidently do it again. Please help.  I don't want drive the car until I'm sure this isn't going to happen again.

Answer
The "factory" alarm is tied into the door locks on this
car. It would honk the horn, and flash the headlights.

If this is the case, the way to disarm it
is to use the key in the drivers door, turn left,
then right toreset the alarm, or add a keyless entry
to do this function.

If it's after market, you would need to know
what the system is to disable it, or remove it
before it becomes a "thing".

Let me know if the door lock way worked for you.
