Car Alarms: over-ride car alarm, override switch, dodge neon

Question
QUESTION: I'm trying to start my 1996 Dodge Neon. I've replaced the battery, and the alarm is going off and preventing the engine from starting. I've tried the valet/override switch as suggested in other entries on this web-site. When I press the valet switch, it does not "chirp", it makes a long beep (2 seconds or so), and the LED light on the dash continues to blink, it does not go solid. Please, do you have any other suggestions?  Thank you, Christine

ANSWER: To re cap, you put the key in the ignition,
turned it on just before cranking, then
pressed and held the valet button in until
it resets?

Is this correct?

A.

QUESTION: yes, those are the steps I take, but I don't think it resets. The LED light still flashes, and the car still won't start. I've tried this several times.

Answer
Hmmm, sorry to hear it.
Well then, it's on to removal from
the factory wiring under the dash.

You will need to tow it for a bit.

I would suggest you go to the local
Circuit City or Best Buy or any other
local installation shop for inspection/repair
or removal to solve this issue for you.

Good luck with it.
