Car Alarms: Dead Battery and remote Doesnt work!!??, dash area, security light

Question
Recently, my Toyota Tacoma's truck (extended cab) battery died.  I hadn't
used my remote for this vehicle in ~1 year.  When I went to jump the vehicle,
the "security horn" (vehicle's horn) began and my remote (with new battery
installed) did NOTHING to turn off the alarm system.  What is up?  Could it be
that my remote (I have 2 and both were useless!!) is not working; or is there
something else that i may need to do to be able to "jump start" my truck??
Lastly -- IF I get a new (charged) battery for the truck, I assume the truck will
continue to honk and I won't be able to start the vehicle.

Any suggestions on how to resolve my dilemma (other than NOT allowing the
battery to die -- in the first place!!??).

Many thanks!

Answer
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

In addition, the key in the drivers door when
the alarm is triggered. turn lrft first. then right
would turn off the factory system.
