Car Alarms: remote starter on a lincoln ls, 2001 lincoln ls, lincoln ls

i ordered a remote start and alarm comb for my 2001 lincoln ls and i wanted to know would i need to get another key so that i can use the remote starter someone told me that i would not beable to use the remote starter because the key has a chip in it and the car wont start with out that
