Car Alarms: saturn sc2 1994 car alarm (door locks), hawk systems, saturn sc2

Question
QUESTION: Hi

I have a 1994 saturn sc2, I am trying to install a hawk 3100 alarm, but the door locking system does not work. the alarmpstays it provides grounding output capable of scouring 200Ma, but the door switch provides power (not ground) to the relays

Any ideas??

Thanks

Friz

ANSWER: You may need a stronger trigger using relays.
But before adding them, make sure you are at the
correct location. These are negative
trigger locks located at the relays,
in center console, passenger side,
aft of shifter. Set up the wires as a negative
trigger door lock and try again.

QUESTION: Firstly, thank you for your prompt reply and knowledge. I have removed the center consol, but found no replays aft of the shifter, only the air bag control. There are however, two relays just forward of the shifter on the starboard (lol) of the car. (these would at about where your left calf would be if you were seated in the passenger seat) one is marked "open relay" and the other is marked "close relay" I have checked the rear of both, they have five pins each and if I apply power to the white wire at the unlock (open) relay, the doors unlock. If I apply power to the lock (close) relay light blue wires the doors lock. Both relays have one black constant ground

I have checked the output from the alarm module and I get grounds at the lock and unlock wires when the remote is activated. It appears the alarm provides a grounding signal to lock and unlock the doors, but my car appears to need a power signal to lock and unlock the doors, is this possible and is the alarm not suitable for this application??

I have read some of your past question and answers and I see you have been asked about hawk systems in the past. I would gladly email you copies of the instructions and installation guides if you would like. I understand hawk in now out of production (this is a new unit still in the box with all instructions)

Again, thank you for your help and knowledge

IF THE ALARM HAS A POSITIVE SWITCHING SYSTEM FOR BUILT IN GREAT.
SELECT POSITIVE TRIGGER DOOR LOCKS AND ATTACHE THE LOCK TO THE LOCK/ UNLOCK TO UNLOCK DIRECTLY. IF NOT AVAILABLE,
THEN PLEASE SEE POSITIVE TRIGGER DOOR LOCKS AT
WWW.RELAYHELP.COM AND SET UP ACCORDINGLY. IT'S
NOT UNCOMON TO FIND THEM TO BE POSITIVE, BUT THE NOTES
ARE NOT ALWAYS THAT PRECISE. SINCE YOU'VE TESTED,
THEN THAT'S WHAT'S REQUIRED. NOT CERTAIN THE
HAWK HAD AN ALTERNATING POLARITY SWITCH FOR THIS,
BUT THE MANUAL MAY MENTION IT IN THE INSTALLATION
INFO.

IF YOU COULD. I WILL KEEP IN MY PERSONAL MANUALS

QUESTIONS. THANKS. EMAIL TO:

Answer
Interesting. Thanks for the cudo's by the way,
very cool of you.

But, enough of that stuff,
back to biz.

Can you email a pic of these 2 items, and
what the manual may have stated
they're uses to be?

Would be helpful to see what they what them to
be used for. I am thinking starter kill for a
relay diode to back off some of the amperage
but might not be needed in all instances.

Send me some digi pics to the email
so I can evaulate will ya?
