Car Alarms: Clifford security system malfunction?, mercury grand marquis, grand marquis

Question
I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis that I purchased used about six months ago. The previous owner had a Clifford security device installed. I am not sure exactly what the device does, or what model it is. I think the device has been malfunctioning, leaving me unable to start the car. When I turn the key, nothing happens, and no electronics on the car will work at all. Usually the red light on the little black "clifford" (which is mounted at the bottom of the dash panel is a steady red but when this happens it flashes repidly. This has happened twice now. The way I have gotten the car started both times was to disconnect BOTH battery terminals. Disconnecting the negative did not correct the problem but when I disconnect the positive as well, and reconnect everything the car starts right up.

Do you think there is a problem with the Clifford system (if so, what should I do?) or does this sound more like a problem with my car's electrical system?

Thanks!

Answer
Oooop! You must have
missed the big yellow button on the
ALLXPERTS site. I don't supply that
service. You have the
wrong guy here. I don't
provide support for DEI equipment or they're
clientel. Too many people have been asking
for the service they should be providing, and
I won't do they're job here any longer.

I refer these folks to either my forum
at www.installsupport.com or, I have a
guy at sales@tampacaralarms.com who might be able
to offer some insight. Good guy and he will treat
you right.

Sorry I could'nt be of more service.
