Car Alarms: 1996 Mercury Sable Anti-Theft alarm, mercury sable, mercury switches

Question
I have a 96 Mercury sable and the alarm has been going off for no reason now for the past month.  I have taken the batteries out of both remotes but it continues.  Could this be a defective sensor in one of the doors or the main board itself?  Also, I have had to remove the fuse for the horn for now until I can get it serviced because the fuse responsible for this system also has the wiper motor on it but is there a wire I can pull or a code that I can enter into the keypad on the door to disable the system?

Answer
All things of course are possible, but
in these instances I am leaning to
wire or pin/door switch fatigue.
Ford/Mercury switches and door pins don't
last as long over time as you might want
to assume.

Ok, if it's malfunctioning now, odds
are, it will again and repairs to the
OEM system can be costly.

Get out some basic install tools or get
a friend or a good technician
in there to do this.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
pink/white |-NEGATIVE| in the
drivers kick panel wiring coming out
of the drivers door.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the OEM alarm functions entirely.

This takes it out of the equation.

Have a good day.
