Car Alarms: car alarm has mind of its own, 2003 nissan murano, nissan murano

Question
QUESTION: i have a factory installed car alarm for a 2003 nissan murano. after replacing our battery, our car alarm will go off for no reason (always in the middle of the night) if we set it.  it doesn't go off if left unlocked.  i have taken it to the dealer for a reset.. no help there, and also have had the key fobs replaced.  no luck there either.  i'm wondering what the solution is.. 60,000 miles on car and in good condition overall.  i'm going one more time to the dealer but would like to have some additional insight.  do you have any thoughts?  thank you, ellen

ANSWER: Give me more of a description so I can
understand your issue better.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: yes this is a factory installed alarm.  the headlights and horn sounds go off.  haven't really observed the word security, but then i'm not really looking for it either. just trying to get the car to be quiet :). i do at times notice the red car symbol flashing in the dash after setting the alarm.  is this more helpful?

Answer
Problematic. The trouble comes in in this vehicle at
the combination door lock/security system.

There is no way i know of to circumvent your
system othere than key in the drivers door,
turn left, then right to disarm the system,
and or, have a factory remote that does this
for you. Other then these two options, Nissan
will need to be on it to find out the trouble,
and reset it.

Wish I had better news. Tough little OEM security
system though. If there's a silver lining here....

Good luck.
