Car Alarms: Theft System on Dakota, fuse box, black orange

Question
How can I know for sure if there is an anti-theft system on my 98 Dakota?  I do not think there is one, but having problems starting and was told that it is either my theft system or PCM.  Wanted to ensure no theft system before I buy a PCM.  If I can use a "plain key" from Wal-Mart to turn the ignition and get engine to "turn over", then am I ensured of no theft system?

Answer
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
BLACK/ORANGE (-) located at the 16 PIN
CONNECTOR BEHIND THE FUSE BOX.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Oh, there is no immobilizer from the factory
in this truck. It's the factory alarm.

Have a good day.
