Car Alarms: immobilizer chip bypass, nissan altima, hot glue

Question
Hi,
I have a 2000 Nissan Altima with just one key with the immobilizer chip inside.  I'd like to have a backup but not willing to invest 100+ dollars for a key so here's my idea that I would like to run by you.
I just want to have a few regular keys made and simply tape the key with the chip next to the ignition.  I realize this is stupid in the sense that my car would not have an alarm but my car is a little older now and I park almost exclusively in a parking lot with security so I'm not concerned with having a car alarm at this point.  Would this work? and is there any possible damage this could could cause to my car.

Answer
You got the right idea, but do it safely...

Go get 2 non transponder keys cut at
the hardware store for 3 bucks each.
Get a universal bypass module
(key-in-a-box style)at
www.PASSLOCK1.com for 25.00.

Then wrap the coil around the key cylinder,
secured in place with hot-glue..connect the
status input wire to chassis ground and the
positive to ignition...no more transponder
key required.  No dealership will program
a key to a non matching VIN ECM, and it's
safely tucked away with the key intact.

The total cost on this is
substantially less than 100.00

This is what will work instead of the dealerships
profit margin. Love it when these guys try to sock it
to the public like we're stupid.

Tell them to overcharge someone else!
