Car Alarms: Alpine SEC-8027, subaru legacy, good answer

i have a Alpine SEC-8027 in my '99 Subaru Legacy, and im wanting to put a turbotimer on it but i was told i need to put a relay in before or after the alarm but hey i know nothing about alarms. so how can i tell where i need to put the relay?
