Car Alarms: Karr alarm- possible failure, karr alarm system, dash panel

Question
My son has a 2002 Ford Ranger with a Karr alarm system. The truck just quit running while he was driving.  When the ignition key is turned all the indicator lights on the dash panel flash off and on and go dim but the starter will not turn over. The battery checks out fine. There is the smell of burnt electronics in the cab of the truck. Any clues you are willing to share? Thanks.
