Car Alarms: alarm system, ford lincoln mercury, mercury mountaineer

Question
QUESTION: I HAVE A 2000 MERCURY MOUNTAINEER AND THE ALARM SYSTEM CONTINUES TO BEEP, TURNS THE LIGHTS ON AND OFF, LOCKS AND UNLOCKS THE DOORS AFTER I GET OUT  AND SET THE ALARM.  WHAT MUST I DO TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?  THE BATTERY IS NEW AND STRONG

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: THE HORN DOES NOT SOUND.....ONLY THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AS IF I OPENED THE DOOR..IT IS A FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM THAT CAME WITH THE CAR....THANKS

Answer
Then unfortunately, Ford/Lincoln Mercury will need to
inspect it. The locking system spazing out like that
could be trouble down the road and be the beginning
of ther electrical issues.

If you want to eliminate it all together,
you can take out the factory alarm from the
equation.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
dk. green/purple |-| located
in the driver's kick panel area.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

I would still take it into the dealer though as
the system is damaged already as "an ounce of prevention,
will produce a pound of cure" in this case.

Have a good day.
