Car Alarms: Kia Sportage Double Pulse?, car locks, double pulse

Question
Greetings,

I am looking to replace the keyless system that was installed by the dealer as it does not always respond to the remotes (even with new batteries) and has a VERY dim domelight supervision.  These behaviors have existed since I bought the car used.

The wiring diagram I have for my 2002 Kia Sportage states that I need a double pulse system to unlock the doors.  What does this mean and why do I need it?

Thanks!

Kevin

Answer
The double pulse is a safety unlock system
from Kia. It's designed to open only the drivers door
first, then the passenger and the rest
on the second pulse output.
So it does require it.

Many alarm/keyless systems have this setting
as an option for these types of car locks.
If set up right, then it will do a double
pulse on 1 press of the unlock button to open
all doors at once.
That's contingent on the system you have
working properly. Yours is not.
It may need re-grounding but if no joy
when that happens, I say get in there
and put in a system that WORKS for you.
For this, see the MICRO DLR4HD or the ASTRA 50
at www.keylesscar.com .

Both have the double pulse unlock setting options
& and dome light illumination outputs if you are
looking to replace the system you have.

If ready to step it up to an alarm or,
even a remote starter setup, no problem
there either. See

Let me know if you need a hand picking a good system
for your truck.
