Car Alarms: pursuit alarm system in 1996 honda accord EX, car alarm system, honda accord ex

Question
Hello Sir,

I believe I have pursuit car alarm system installed in my 1996 honda accord EX based on my remote. Based on your resposes to pursuit alarm system, I do see the LED goes solid on turning off the alarm and only keyless entry works. And I do see LED goes blinking on turning on alarm system and it chirps on pressing keyless entry button as well as head light blinks.

Is it correct behaviour of alarm system?

the reason I am asking because my new battery goes dead in the morning and can not start car without jump start.

So I checked the power drain using Amphere meter when my car was totally turned off. I saw 3A current drain. We removed one by one fuse from fuse box and didn't affect on current drain. So the mechanic doubted that its malfunctioning of my alarm system.

Do you think it could draw 3A as it should be digital circuit?

Any suggestion what should I look for would be great help?

thanks in advance,

Answer
3amps huh? Hmmm, probably not the LED.
Since the LED is pulling .03 milliwatts, so it's
unlikely it's that. The other idea though
is if the starter kill relay is burnt of
frozen open, then that could drain it.
I am sure you've checked the validity of the
Accords charging system and battery right?

The last though is the charging system.

Try an experiment. Unplug the brain box.
Go 72 hours and see if the battery is still showing
a drain. If so, then the alarm is not the trouble.

If not, then remove and repair the starter kill
relay assembly would be the first thought. Then
if the drain still happens, replace the alarm
and present wiring to start from scratch.

Try it. Let me know what
happens.

Regards.
