Car Alarms: bmw immobiliser, alarmtek, bmw dealership

i have a 95 316,and an orange keeps coming on,on the immobiliser key fob,when this happens i cant lock or unlock the car! why does this happen?

Answer
This vehicle has the BMW anti-theft system
in the ignition and key.
It appears you've reset the PATS.
The car does not recognise the chip in the ignition
key any longer.

The BM'ers PASSIVE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM)
needs to be reprogrammed I believe.
You can tow it to any BMW dealership
to have the service department re code it.

The trouble is in the ignition at the reader
probably, but BMW will need to determine that.
