Car Alarms: silencer starter disable alarm, cadillac catera, pain in the butt

Question
QUESTION: i have a 99 cadillac catera 3.0.it has a silencer alarm, starter disable type.the alarm has a plug under the dash, which can be removed it is flat and looks like some type of key.my car will not start, replaced the battery, the starter switch, the alternator and finally the starter.all thats left is the after market alarm system.please tell me how to remove this thing! will more then glad to pay for information.i need some type of step diagrams. i looked the alarm up on the internet its either a 5900 or 6900 silencer because of replacement key they sell, looks like the one under my car's dash.after all the work done to car,it still would not start.a wire was used to bypass the alarm, then the car would start, but a weird thing happened.the car's starter will kick in. this is while the car is already turned on.removed the key from ignition and the car would not turn off,had to remove the battery wire to get it to stop.please help!

ANSWER: Allright Bert, a couple of no no's here.
1. this car has the passlock 2 resister based
fuel rail cut off system in the key and the
ignition column. Without the factory programmed key,
the car can not be started. The Silencer should
never have been added into the mix. It was
redundent when it went it & it will, and
become a problem down the line if not addressed correctly.

2. Left alone, this will become a royal pain in
the butt. The passlock 2 (www.passlock2.com)
The Fuel rail injector immobilizer can freeze up
and is the biggest issue here because if messed with
will lock out all fuel injection until the
GM diagnostic machine at your local dealership
can reset it. ($$$)

That being said, if you are at all handy with
tools, here's what I would do...

Drop the under panels from the steering column
so you can gain clear access to the following wires:

12Volts constant source: red|+|in the ignition harness
STARTER|black/red |+|ignition harness
SWITCHED IGNITION|brown |+|ignition harness

Then, trace the wiring from the Silencer device
that are connected to these wires, and remove
them 1 by 1, repairing as you go with black tape,
and 1 yellow type butt connector for the 2 free
starter wire ends. Then all the rest of the wires
which would be grounds.

This then solves the Silencer issue, and should
retain the integrity of Passlock 2 unless damage
to passlock was caused prior to repair.

Hopefully, this will apply to your project ahead.

Stay in touch.

ANSWER: I wish I knew what to offer here as you've very kind with your rating,
and I'd like to solve this delema too.
But geeez. Never heard of this one.

This car has gremlins. Did you install the remote starter?
And did you get the accessoies wire powered during
remote start. Can't see to offer more, but it gets
sporatic when it's in remote start and I want to
know how it's wired before I can diagnose this
wierd situation.

Let me know if this wire is connected.

QUESTION: the car does not have a remote starter.its only the basic factory starting system.the remote i have is the factory issued one.which only operates the doors opens and closes them along with trunk opener and gas door.by the way someone  had installed 2 different alarm systems,1# the kill the starter,2# the one which had one of the original keys inside.boy was i happy to see that key which run around $100.00.i took the car to a alarm installation faucility they removed them both completely.i have had this car for 4 years.

Answer
Bert, you said both were removed.
I am inclined to advise you to now to go back to
the tech who did that and have him go over the
work performed. Something is incorrect.

He was the last in there. Reasonably, He
should inspect what problems popped
up that he may have left behind.

Just spit balling, but that seems logical to me.
