Car Alarms: 99 Chevy Prism not honking anymore w/ keyless entry, chevy prism, valet mode

Question
I am not sure how this stopped working or how to get it going again.  The keyless entry works, but it used to honk once when i locked, and twice when I unlocked.  Now it is silent.  I don't have a factory owner's manual, so I really am clueless as far as how to return it to honking.  The horn does work when used by itself...  I think the keyless system is the same as a 99 Toyota Corolla, as this car was built for Chevy by Toyota...  The remote looks like a Toyota remote, too.

Thanks for any help!!

Answer
Should be no problem really.
It appears from your expaination, that the
car alarm is in service mode.
(probably after market)

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the sounds as well.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
If it does not go the way explained,
try to identify the system you have using the
FCC on the back of the remote at a site
lie www.remotes4you.com or, www.autotechs.com
and see if you can get more info on "silent"
mode for yours.

Good luck.
