Car Alarms: need help turning my car alarm off, ford taurus, 1999 ford taurus

I tried replacing the battery in my 1999 ford Taurus and everytime I connect the second cable the alarm (which hasn't worked in months) won't stop going off along with the trunk popping open and the lights flashing on and off.How do I disarm the alarm b/c I can't get it to shut off with the remote or the button inside the car.HELP!!!

I need the make & model of the alarm system
if you know it please.

Also, is it a siren and flashing parking lights,
and an LED flashing in the dash when the alarm
"goes off"?

or,

Is it the headlights flashing, a worded "security"
or "anti-theft" blinking light in the dash cluster,
and the car's own horn honking?

This info helps me determine what alarm system
(after market or OEM-factory) that you are dealing
with.
