Car Alarms: remote starter, button transmitters, remote transmitters

Question
I just had a REI remote starter reinstalled in a new Nissan
p/u that was taken out of a 96 Toyota p/u trade-in. After
installation, which included adding the electronic key module 1 of the button remote transmitters doesn't work properly. The shop said replacements aren't available, because the factory went out of business. They seem very much in business and are all over the
internet. Now I have less faith in the shop personnel. Are
replacement REI button transmitters available?

Answer
The shop obviously wanted you to update and buy
a system they sell, install and warranty.
Not uncommon. But all not all together wrong either.
As a shop owner myself, it's hard to guaranty
a product not bought here, and the shop is risking
alot when we take on a job I don't provide
my own equipment on.

That being said, they could have tried to
assist you with the replacement remotes
since you just paid them to install it.

But oh well, can't tell someone else
how to act, right?

However, there are sites online you can go to
for this kind of thing.

Please try a site like www.keylessride.com.
www.keynfob.com , or www.remotes4you.com .

All specialize in identifying and replacing
said transmitters, using the FCC ID# on the
back of the remote.

I hope this helps you with
your troubles. Good luck with it.
