Car Alarms: car alarm system lights flashing when off, 1997 oldsmobile aurora, car alarm system

I just purchased a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora 4 door sedan.  The only problem with it (which I knew ahead of time) was that the alarm system lights (headlights and parking lights will flash sporadically when the car is turned off.   This seems to go away when the headlights are turned on.  There also seems to be a buzzing sound coming from under the dash when this happens. (like either a muffled buzzer or an electrical connection shorting.  The previous owner said that he called the local Olds dealer and the repair department said that it could have been activated by the extreme heat we had last month and the fact that the car was sitting for a period of time.  I can't imagine that this is a viable answer.  Have you ever encountered this before or is there a way to just disconnect the security system?  Any help is appreciated.

Without inspection I would simply be speculating.
That's just not fair to you. I would imagine
you should take it elsewhere to have a tech go up
under the dash to determine the trouble though.

Let me know what they discover.
