Car Alarms: 93 oldsmobile 88 royale wont start/security light flashing, oldsmobile 88, gm vehicle

Question
just brought a 93 oldsmobile 88 royale, parked it and now when i turn the key to start i get nothing. security light is flashing, dash lights come on but nothing else. battery, solenoid, and starter all good. brought new key with chip and still doesnt start. could it be the security/ factory installed anti theft system has shut down my ignition and what can i do to get it started again? bypass the security? and how? please help!!!

Answer
It appears you've reset the VATS.
The car does not recognise the chip in the ignition
key when that happens. You can try to put the key
in the ignition, turn to the on position & wait at
least 10 mins like that when it happens. But
after awhile, it will stop working at all.
Your ignition switch assembly may be to blame.

In some cases, the VATS (GM'S VEHICLE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM)
will re learn the code this way, and will then
allow the restart all the time. But if this does not work,
then go to any GM vehicle dealer
to have the service department evaluate the issue,
re code it.

Lastly, to do a permanant bypass on the VATS
system, see the PLJX BYPASS 1 & 2 module
at www.PASSLOCK2.com

Good luck with it.
