Car Alarms: Car Alarm Will Not Go Off, subaru legacy gt, subaru legacy

My 1997 Subaru Legacy GT's alarm has been set off and I cannot get it to turn of. I do not have the remote to the alarm system, only the key. As the alarm goes off I try to put the key in the ignition and start the car, nothing happens. I try and lock the door from either the inside or outside, nothing happens. Right now I have the wires leading to the battery unplugged and if I try and reattach them the alarm goes off.  Any Suggestions?

Please try to locate the valet switch
to overide the alarm.

If you would read some of the previous
posts I made on this subject, you will
see the procedure to toggle into and out
of valet/override mode. It allows
you to set and reset the starter kill mechanism
as well as all other standard alarm features.

This should also apply to yours.
