Car Alarms: blinking headlights, headlight doors, alarmtek

Question
Hi, I've recently bought a 2001 Firebird in very good condition that already had a Viper 300ESP installed in it.  I didn't notice it at first, but one day, the front headlight doors 'blinked' when I enabled the alarm.  They blinked twice when I disabled the alarm.  I thought that was really cool.  Then one of the headlight door actuator motors went bad and I replaced it.  The headlights doors didn't blink any more afterwards.  I took it a Viper installer.  They installed some harness with a relay that made the headlights turn on in either Parking Light position or Headlight position.  The headlights did start blinking again when ever I pressed the 'I' key, but I didn't want the way the headlight switch worked to be affected.  I just wanted the headlight doors to open and close again whenever I pressed the transmitter button.  So I went back to that Viper installer and they told me this was the only way to make them blink again.  I can't accept that because they blinked before they installed this relay harness.  So I told them that was not what I wanted.  I had them remove that relay harness and now the headlight switch operates the way it should, but the headlights don't blink.  How can I get them to blink again without changing their behavior when using the headlights switch on the dashboard?
