Car Alarms: Pursuit Security Systems, steering column, montero

Question
Hello.  I'm currently rebuilding a '91 Mits. Montero and happened to come across a black box labeled Pursuit Security Systems under the steering column.  FYI: I bought the Montero after the engine was taken apart.  Anyhow, I opened the box and found what I'm guessing is the model number on the circuit board.  The numbers are 9144A-1A.  I tried to get info on the Audiovox web site but the model number doesn't come up in the search.  Personally, I'm not sure I want to keep it just because I don't know anything about it.  And would it prevent my vehicle from starting?  Any help would be great.  Thanks for your time.

Answer
I could not find anything on it either.
You can of course continue to look for this system and
try to salvage it, but for the time and expense
involved to get it identified, and replace
the remotes, and then make sure it works,
I'd start fresh. You can replace the unit
with an updated, upgraded sytem for under
60.00 that will do a great job when the
rebuild project is done. Just my free advice here.

You can always continue on the hunt for the
one you have too. Try my forum at www.installsupport.com
to see if there is a tech there who might have
more info on it to track for you.

Good luck with it.
