Car Alarms: 2001 Hyundai Elantra factory alarm malfunction, hyundai elantra, autobody shop

Question
My Elantra was in an accident and when I got it back from the autobody shop by car alarm has been acting up. If I lock it using the remote key alarm, a minute later the alarm will go off. But only every so often. I am guessing it is a loose wire, but do not know where to look.

Answer
This car does not have a factory alarm.
It's a basic vehicle from Hyundai. Sorry.

You are dealing with an after market piece.
and was most likely put in at the dealership

From the description, the alarm is seeing
an open circuit after about a minute.
Not uncommon.
This usually denotes a door trigger wire might
be off or, mis connected/loose. This
would spike the current from the battery
and trigger the alarm intermittently.

Since I can not be there to inspect it.
I suggest you go to your local car alarm
shop, and have them go over the trigger
wiring.

If you are a handy kind of guy, you can
do it yourself, and trace the problematic
wire, but if not inclined, an installer
can locate the trouble and fix it quickly
I would imagine.

Good luck.
