Car Alarms: Plymoth Neon 2001, alarmtek, dash area

Question
QUESTION: My car has a factory installed alarm system on it. Last night it was broken into through the trunk and the alarm did not sound. Today when I went to try to activate the alarm (by locking the door with the keyless remote) the red light on the dashboard was not flashing. Is there someway that I might have deactivated my alarm/ who ever broke in deactivated it, and if so how do I reactivate it?

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
Is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
"going off"?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action.

QUESTION: headlight flashing, car horn honking, red light blinking in dash.

Answer
Well, if it was an aftermarket alarm I'd say
yes, you could most likely bypass and reset it
yourself.
ie:
(Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid. )

But, this being the Dodge factory alarm makes
it harder.

The only thing I can suggest on an OEM system
Is to take it into Dodge for inspection.
This should be done anyway to determine how
the thief got in and got around the security
system in the first place, and stop that from
happening again. But they need to put it on
the diagnostic there to see that, & reset.

Wish I had more, but I can't see it myself, so
I would advise you to get a pro to look it over.

I hope this helps some.
