Car Alarms: How do I disable the alarm in my 97 Ford Escort?, alarm features, ford escort

I recently received a 97 Ford Escort from a relative who had decided to install an alarm in the car. I had the car for a few months and was completely unaware of the alarm's presence until a few days ago when it started going off whenever the car door is opened. I've already found out that turning the key in the ignition while pressing the button under the dash will shut the alarm off once it's sounding, but how do I disable the thing altogether so I don't have to deal with it going off every time I get in? I don't necessarily want it removed, but just back to whatever setting it was on before that allowed me to get into my car in peace.

Please try to locate the valet switch
to overide the alarm.

If you would read some of the previous
posts I made on this subject, you will
see the procedure to toggle into and out
of valet/override mode. It allows
you to set and reset the starter kill mechanism
as well as all other standard alarm features.

This should also apply to yours.
