Car Alarms: My 1999 VW Beetle alarm, alarmtek, vdub

Question
I have a 99 vw beetle and accidently got my only remote entry key wet and ruined it. i can unlock the car with my key, but when i put the key in the ignition and turn it, the alarm goes off. How can i shut off the alarm and start the car? (also i have no vw manual for the car)

Actually you can't. This now is a VW issue.
Sorry. Contact VW on Monday and explain. It's
the programing in the key you have. The
transponder / fuel system cut off in your car
is engaged. Your key is not being recognised
anylonger. Vdub has to recode and reset it,
or replace it.

Tough one really.
Not alot of recourse on these.
