Car Alarms: toyota carina car alarm problem, toyota carina, toyota alarm

i read one of your other answers to a similar question. We hav a toyota carina N reg 1996. We have replaced the battery and now cannot deactivate the alarm, as we dont have the over ride key for the alarm, the alrm is going off and we can not start the car. you previously advised another person that there is a valet/overide switch or toggle swith under the dash but we have been unable to locate it. Do you have any suggestions please? My husband was a mechinic so knows alot about cars but cannot remeber any specific details or worked on toyota's. Do you know where the alarm loom is located? The alarm is factory fitted toyota alarm.

Tell the husband to drop the underpanel from
beneith the steering column. There will be
an after market alarm system interfaced to the key
switch-wiring harness. You need to first unplug it,
the mehodically, remove and repair the systems
wiring. Lastly, cut out the starter kill relay on the
starter wire (shows 12 volts when cranking ONLY)
and repair. Then cut out the siren, and then
clean it up.

All done.

That should do it.
